Electricians Point of View
When you are getting your kitchen renovated or whilst it has been removed there are a few things from an Electrician’s point of view you may want to consider or have a think about.
Different Parts of The Kitchen
The most important thing in the kitchen is your electrical appliances, and powering them is your kitchen circuit, current regulations require that sockets be a certain height, away from water areas not over your cooker and that all the appliance circuits are able to be isolated from a safe location, so if any electrical home appliance needed to be removed or fixed, the circuit could be turned off to make sure there is no risk of electrical shock should the area behind the electrical appliance be wet or hard to reach even down to installing a heat detector.
All these are rules within the ETCI Rulebook for Electricians and must be followed.
Always Use A Registered Electrician
Where can I find a registered electrician? if your looking for an electrician then you’re looking for a SafeElectric electrician, you can check and see what electricians are registered by searching their name, emailing them and asking or even calling by phone. SafeElectric holds Electricians in Ireland to a high-quality standard always for the safety and the consumer.
Problems Using Non-Registered Electricians
If you haven’t used a registered electrical contractor problems may arise. This can be a common occurrence as builders who want to install kitchens can often find an unregistered electrical contractor and underpay them for the work leading to a recipe for disaster. Often when this happens even if the underlying circuit is compromised or dangerous and not currently complying to safety and electrical regulation, the kitchen is installed and the wiring moved, altared and a lot of times, an actual electrician will have to be called to fix these problems and to bring the installation to a standard that it can be tested and so that the errors made can be fixed.
Things To Make Sure Of
Always make sure your kitchen has it’s own supply, Ideally 2 or 3 cables for sockets and appliances depending on the size of your kitchen. And while there is access with the kitchen being out it is always a good time to update any older spec wiring that needs to be done.
Ensure all old cabling has been removed and that old, compromised wiring isn’t being tapped from.
Make sure your electrician verify the work is done to standard. Ask about electrical rules in the kitchen.
